Reading the public side — the FAQ, the blog guides, this policy — asks for no account and reveals nothing about you.
A live call needs exactly two permissions: camera and microphone. Your browser owns both — you grant them, you revoke them, and the lens never activates until you say yes. A Shagle call always holds two people and nothing more: no audience off-screen, no stream going anywhere, no software on your device.
Matching two strangers live needs some unglamorous plumbing: standard device and browser info, server logs storing IP addresses and timestamps, plus page traffic counted in totals, not people. Your guest session stores only what it needs to work — free matches left, plus any coin balance. Coins are sold through an outside payment processor, so full card numbers never touch our servers; the terms go over the same ground from the legal side.
Three jobs and nothing else: cookies keep a guest session coherent while you match, remember minor preferences, and count visits as anonymous totals. A handful are strictly necessary — turn those off and matching cannot work at all. Each cookie we set, and the steps to refuse or wipe them, is named in the cookie policy page.
When you report or block someone, session context can travel into a moderation review. That context separates a moderator able to act from one who can only guess — and it is what gets repeat offenders out of the queue entirely. The rules being enforced are laid out in the community rules.
